The colors in this design are directly inspired by wampumpeg. Using digital technology, I was able to pull colors directly from the quahog shell beads. Wampum beads have historically been used both in regalia as well as in the creation of wampum belts. Wampum belts can be considered sacred forms of documentation.
The shapes and symbols in this piece were inspired by an Oneida wampum belt design. This piece of work is meant to represent an abundance of shared histories and community growth.
This wristlet can be used and appreciated by anyone.
